A cancer diagnosis doesn’t just affect a cancer patient.

Its effects are felt by their families, loved ones and care-givers, and its reach goes far beyond the treatment itself.

In collaboration with our trusted partners, Blue Sky Days provides a welcome escape for cancer patients (and their families and caregivers) to take a break from the stresses that come along with a diagnosis. By way of day-trips, overnight escapes and experienced-based adventures families can enjoy themselves without worrying about the financial burden.

Blue Sky Days is a program created by The Quiet Courage Foundation designed to support cancer patients, and their immediate family and care-givers.

Why does a cancer patient need a blue sky day?

The stresses of cancer treatment are far reaching. Treatment is both physically and emotionally taxing, not to mention financially draining. Even if treatment is covered by medicare, the expense of medications, medical imaging, surgical expenses, childcare, loss of income, hospital parking and transportation, and extra visitors in the home all adds up.

Unfortunately life does not stop when we are unwell, and the impacts of treatment can be even more devastating when children witness a parent’s cancer treatment.

A blue sky day can provide much needed joy and excitement for families and carers. By temporarily stepping away from treatment routines, patients can focus on connecting with their loved ones, enjoying each other's company and making meaningful memories, all while not having to worry about how they will afford it.
